What Does The Future Hold?
It never ceases to amaze me how quickly time passes by when you are no longer seven years old, and I suppose our story telling group was no different in that respect.
Our six week pilot Storytelling Group has come to an end. All we have left to do now is take ourselves to an Open Mic to brave our storytelling in front of the wider public.
I can truly say that the last number of weeks have been a wonderful experience to behold. I was amazed by all the stories, and even more so than that, I was amazed by the willingness to share and connect.
Our group was small, and this was an intentional move on my part. I felt too many in the storytelling brew would result in someone losing out on due care and attention from the group. I wished for all of us to have adequate time to share stories, ask questions and discuss, and that is precisely what we did!
So what's next for our little group?
Well, after we recover from a certain kind of high, a high that can only be found once you've stood in front of a group of strangers and performed a piece that's close to your heart, we shall meet up to discuss our future.
So all in all, it's a 'watch this space' moment!
These number of weeks would not have been possible without Creative Waterford and Waterford City and County Councils support.
I'd also like to give thanks to Dungarvan Library for accommodating us during our first set of meetings and to John in Downey's who kindly gave us space, in his wonderfully atmospheric bar to complete our meetings.
It was a community effort by all accounts, and when you have community there is nothing you can't achieve!!!
