Dungarvan Storytelling! A Story In Itself!

30/09/2026

Where does one start, huh?

I'm not one for getting down, or letting something get the better of me, but my steel reserve is being challenged with this Storytelling Group!

Last week's meet up was absolutely amazing, and if you haven't read about it be sure to check it out on the blog previous to this one. We had such a great time. The meeting was indicative to me, at the very least, that this storytelling idea was shaping up to be a mighty fine one!

So, considering last weeks delight I was truly looking forward to Monday night, and had found and learned some great Irish stories, but it wasn't to be …

There was no issues with the buses or anything like that. I was in fact, sure to be sure, to catch the bus and arrive on time and I did, but as I got through Aglish a notification popped up on my phone.

"Due to technical issues the Open Access will not be available" the Open Access is an absolutely amazing edition to the library in Dungarvan and it is very reliable, but unfortunately its technology decided to throw in the technical towel on Monday night.

This wouldn't have been a major issue as many would say "Sure why didn't ye just go to the pub?". Naturally going to the pub is always an option, but some are divided, including me I suppose, when it comes to adding the prospect of alcohol to the storytelling equation.

All this meant that I had no time to find another venue in that short space of time meaning we had to cancel the night.

There are many ways in which a positive light can be shared on this experience, and that is what I'm going to do because that is my nature. Effectively, and most importantly this group was to be a place where people could connect and develop meaningful relationships within the community. The setting up of this group has in no doubt been faced with some challenges, but we are connecting and developing relationships through our brainstorming of other options for venues.

Not only this, but this group, in its infancy is becoming a story in itself!

So, I have had to review my current venue and I feel that perhaps the fear of alcohol may have to be let down. Afterall, has it not been that many a story and traditional Irish session that has been shared in a pub?

If you, my lovely readers, have any ideas of a nice cozy pub in Dungarvan that wouldn't mind us few sharing a discussion and a story round a table please do let me know.
